- Introduced Francie Nelson, prospective board member.
- Vote on Beth Anne Thompson’s candidacy.
- Approve: Minutes of FY18 February Meeting
- Paul: Artistic Report
- Provided touring update.
- North Andover show was cancelled due to Nor’easter.
- Reported status of preparations for spring show and programming for Christmas 2018.
- Gave overview of access project with Street Song.
- Reported successful culmination of 2017–18 HSR program.
- Provided touring update.
- Joe: Executive Director Report
- Explained cashflow impact of cancelled show.
- Reported $60K operating grant from the McKnight foundation.
- Provided update on collaborative concert.
- Lorelei has issued their contract.
- Ordway will be sending us their contract later this week.
- MPR broadcast will be included in negotiations upfront to avoid a similar situation to what we experienced with Sweet Honey.
- Reported APM will be recording spring show for syndication.
- Described the updates Jake Christopher plans to make for the website.
- Chuck: Treasurer’s report
- February Financials
- Reported we are ahead of budget, but funds will start to deplete this spring.
- Still anticipate ending FY18 with minor surplus.
- Joe reported the Target Foundation has invited us to apply for a $20K grant.

- Chuck/Joe: Fall 2018 cash flow
- Cash flow is in good shape through end of FY18, but becomes problematic this fall.
- Joe gave context of how the past two years compared to the upcoming fall.
- Board discussion re: fall collaboration concert and its budgetary purpose.
- Joe reminded the board of how Lorelei was selected as collaborator.
- Consulting with singers, Rob Robbins, other arts administrators, etc.
- Of our possible 2018 collaborators, MPR was only interested in Lorelei.
- Board discussion re: pros/cons of requesting a new line of credit.
- Board discussion re: identifying major donors for multi-year gifts.
- Possibly leveraging the strategic plan and 25th anniversary season
- Joe reported the touring schedule is very heavy in Spring 2019, but the fall seems unlikely to get much fuller than already projected.
- Board discussion re: self-booking opportunities to ease fall cashflow concerns.
- Joe reported self-booked encore performance of Discovery of Sight on 5/20 at Hamline United Methodist.
- Board discussion re: the ensemble's understanding of the organization’s financial situation and the role of singers who serve on the board.
- Brock/Joey: Engagement Committee Update
- Joey distributed sign-up for Open Rehearsal.
- Reported Individual giving is tracking ahead of last year.
- Spring direct mail appeal letter just went out.
- A survey was sent to donors who have already made gift this fiscal year.
- Reported sales for the spring show are slightly behind 2017, but show is 2 weeks later.
- Provided overview of upcoming marketing for spring show and Covers.
- Kevin reported Finnegan’s sounds excited about promotional event.
- Cantus Idol Update
- Joey reported Idol currently has 197 tickets sold.
- Brock requested ideas from BOD for seed donors.
- Pete: Governance Committee Update
- Reported recent meeting with Steve Rosas, prospective board member.
- Sam Green and Patricia Kirkpatrick will meet with Laurie Meyers next week.
- Jeff tabled Strategic Planning item until April meeting to allow time for Executive Session.
