- Chris/Paul: Artistic Update
- Reported largest amount of music ever prepared in August: Season Preview, State Fair, South Korea & China tour including country-specific programming, Sweet Honey, Taiwan, then begin usual touring show.
- Presented Alone Together promotional video.
- Reported programs for Fall 2019 as One Giant Leap and Spring 2020 as There Lies the Home (mirroring album concept).
- Joe: Executive Director Report
- Welcome to new team member, Kelsey Sieverding.
- Provided overview of strategic planning schedule and areas of focus, including diversity, touring cost effectiveness, audience development, and a comparison with peer institutions.
- Reported unexpected expense with trip to Chicago for Chinese visas.
- Predicted tight cashflow during end of September.
- Discussed benefit of early board giving to help offset low balance.
- Chuck thanked Joe for navigating difficult end of fiscal year.
- Chuck: Treasurer’s report
- Stressed that final FY17 year-end numbers may change after audit.
- Reported Cantus Idol exceeded revenue goals, increase in individual giving accounted for reduced deficit.
- Provided overview of audit schedule.
- Accept: FY17 July financials
- Brock/Jon/Joey: Engagement Committee Update
- Reported year-end giving exceeded goals, gifts at a historic high.
- Discussed marketing tactics for Sweet Honey in the Rock and difficulties surrounding setting up MPR broadcast.
- Reported subscription sales have been slow, but in line with previous years.
- Circulated Open Rehearsal sign-up and discussed how to utilize for fundraising.
- Brock reported increase in average gift amounts.
- Jeff/Brock/Jon: Board responsibilities
- Discussed the importance of board giving.
- Provided conflict of interest overview and distributed forms.
- Pete/Jeff/Wendy: Governance update
- Nomination of David Niles
- Jeff acknowledged Wendy’s leadership, service to Cantus.
