2018-2019 Season Tickets
- Subscriptions
- FY19 YTD: $49,760
- FY18 Total: $44,470
- FY17 Total: $44,246
- When I Grow Up
- Final Totals:
- Revenue: $25,523
- Tickets: 913
- 64% to goal
- Final Totals:
- We fell unusually short of this goal. But as I presented to the Engagement Committee, here is some context for understanding ticket sales for this show:
- History of spring concerts
- Would You Harbor Me? (2016): $32,508 with 1284 tickets sold
- America Will Be! (2017): $29,854 with 1213 ticket sold
- For the Beauty of the Earth (2018): $34,044 with 1186 ticket sold
- Other factors to consider
- A harsh winter likely depressed ticket sales
- Concert series was earlier this year than the past two years, and we heard anecdotally that people were on vacation/spring break
- We added a concert at Westminster—and increased our ticket goal with the estimation that we’d bring in more revenue. It seems we may have split our audience between venues instead.
- History of spring concerts
- I wanted to also outline the marketing and PR elements of this show for further context:
- Usual marketing
- Postcard mailing to 5,000 households
- Series of emails
- Ads on MPR (web, in-stream, and on-air)
- Print program book ads (such as MN Opera and MN Orch)
- Social media
- Additional marketing/PR for this concert
- $1,000 more in MPR in-stream impressions
- $250 behind Facebook ad
- MinnPost online banner ad
- Live appearances on Fox 9’s “The Buzz” and KSTP’s “Twin Cities Live”
- MinnPost mention from Pamela Espaland
- Glowing review from Rob Hubbard in the Pioneer Press
- Usual marketing
- Here are some takeaways I’m thinking about for the future:
- Invest more $ in digital
- Look at demographic information when mailing
- Roll out voucher option for tickets next fall
- Consider how we talk about Cantus and describe programs
Cantus Idol
- Monday, May 6 at 5:30pm at ARIA
- Total as of 4/19/19:
- 263 tickets sold; $35,200
- Goal: 350 tickets sold (but at least 300)
- Total as of 4/22/18:
- 233 tickets sold; $31,100
- *Last year, we had an additional week before Idol on May 14, 2018
- If you know anyone in your network might be compelled to make a gift of $5,000 or $2,500 before the event as a ‘seed donor’ to our fund-a-need, please talk to me, Joe, or Brock!
- Here’s a preview of this year’s exciting auction items:
