- Brock and Marit leading the Cantus Idol committee. Primary goals:
- Secure 300 reservations

- Identify potential sponsors to bring down expenses
- Seeking new live auction ideas and suggestions for at least one $5,000 corporate sponsor (please supply potential leads)
2016-2017 Season
- Cantus and Chanticleer in Concert
- Total revenue = $121,999.50
- Total expenses = $49,466.53
- NET = $72,532.95 ($5,778.47 more than budgeted!)
- The performance sold out one week before the concert! Reviews from the press:
- Pioneer Press: http://www.twincities.com/2016/10/03/cantus-chanticleer-review/ (“This may have been the Twin Cities area’s quintessential celebration of the human voice this year, and the choral-crazy crowd sent the 20 men off by raising their own voices in cheers and whoops akin to what might have been found across downtown Minneapolis at the Vikings game.”)
- MinnPost: https://www.minnpost.com/artscape/2016/10/black-film-festival-coming-includes-fashion-show-tribute-prince (“It was splendid, sublime, exhilarating and thrilling.”)
- Initial stats from MPR from the Live Facebook Broadcast:
- During the concert as fed into Facebook Live: average of 1100-1500 viewers at any one time
- Estimate that ca. 20,000 viewers spent at least ten seconds with Facebook Live feed; some much more time than that
- Audience from UK, Australia, Japan, many of the 50 United States
- After the concert, the Biebl "Ave Maria" had ca. 15,000 views on YouTube before we had to pull it down, per rights
- No Greater Love Than This
- Preview on TPT’s “Almanac” and a glowing review by Terry Blain from Star Tribune: http://www.startribune.com/cantus-opens-season-with-beautiful-music-on-horrors-of-war/397333921/
- Marketing efforts has remained consistent, but ticket sales for this fall show and for season packages have been very disappointing. Possible reasons behind this:
- Season announced two weeks later than usual due to change with Romeo & Juliet
- The timing and higher price for Chanticleer tickets left some people deciding between that show or our fall show
- Will likely fall short of goal for the fall show by $10,000
- Subscription sales as of 10/20/16:
- 423 subscriptions; $42,610 in revenue; 54% are 3-concert packages
- At this time last year:
- 535 subscriptions; $52,132 in revenue; 54% are 3-concert packages
- Joey and Carly made phone calls to individuals who subscribed last year but haven’t yet this year. Most common responses:
- Left voice messages – haven’t heard back;
- Out of town too much this year and cannot commit to dates;
- Not interested in the programming.
- Our “Songs of Travel” Chamber Concert Series will run July 18-20 at the Germanic American Museum, American Swedish Institute, and The Museum of Russian Art. Tickets will cost $20.
