Welcome to new singers!
Jacob joins us from New York City after working for Manhattan Choral Productions and singing around town and David joins us after completing his Masters degree at University of Oklahoma and a summer of singing with Ohio Light Opera.
We are in our first full week of rehearsals and we are so happy to welcome these two gentlemen to the ensemble. We are working on our fall show, No Greater Love Than This which is a show focused on the experience of going to war. This show features many new pieces to the ensemble as well as some fan favorites. We are also looking forward to performing at the Minnesota State Fair on September 3rd for MPR day at 2 PM. We are also excited to perform with Chanticleer and are busy preparing for that joint concert! Stay tuned!

We have selected the themes and working titles for the touring shows of the 18-19 Touring season. For fall, we will present “Stranger", a concert about communication in the modern age (and how it’s effected by technology). For spring, we have chosen “For the Beauty of the Earth”, a show detailing our connection to our environment and the natural world around us.
The group is currently in the final stages of finalizing revised materials for our 17-18 touring shows for AAM to use in their sales language and literature.
We have chosen a theme of “Songs of Travel” for the chamber music concerts this summer, featuring the famous song cycle by Vaughan Williams, and including other rep as well. The concert will feature solos, duets, and smaller groups of Cantus singers as a contrast to our regular format for our home concert series.
New ensemble members participated in programming orientation, and will continue to have check-ins as their tenure progresses.
The Chanticleer concert repertoire has been finalized and both groups will start preparing the collaborative pieces shortly.
The Romeo and Juliet project will continue with a workshop in early September. The main goal of the workshop is to give Libby time and experience with 8 voices (rather than 9), to get a final script from Bill and Carla, and to give Carl Flink opportunity to develop a final movement vocabulary. No public/fundraising event/performance is planned.

High School Residency
Jeff Bina has secured Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in St. Paul for our HSR Festival Day on Saturday February 25. Cantus has a good relationship with Gloria Dei, and we’ve used their facilities before. Festival Day is a great opportunity for Board Members to get involved! E-mail me for more details.
National Outreach
We are in the process of updating our National Outreach Education offerings. In addition to our masterclasses and lecture demonstrations, we are fleshing out presentations for students and professionals on how to become a professional musician after college, and how to tell a story through song, which will include audience participation, and share with attendees our unique programming model.
Spread the word that Cantus offers a variety of educational outreach opportunities locally and around the country each year. If you know educators/organizations interested in working with us, refer them to education@cantussings.org, or contact Sam at sgreen@cantussings.org.
